Contact Wayne County Record Offices

Wayne County Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm current custody, release anyone, post bond, retrieve an official booking record, or change a court file. Contact the agency that created or keeps the record.

Where to Start for a Record

The right contact depends on the question. Call ahead because the sheriff host and some city services can change without notice.

Wayne County Sheriff's Office

Official county page
266 E. Walnut Street
Jesup, GA 31546

912-427-5970

Call to confirm the current open-records custodian, warrant process, and request route. No separate records line or public hours were verified.

Wayne County Jail

GDC facility listing
1892 South Macon Street
Jesup, GA 31545

912-427-5975

Use for current custody questions. Confirm visit and records routing before going in person.

Wayne County Clerk

Clerk office page
174 N. Brunswick Street
Jesup, GA 31546

912-427-5930

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fax: 912-427-5939.

For a booking sheet or intake photo, confirm the WCSO records route. For a filed case or disposition, contact the Clerk. The two offices do not hold the same record.

Who Handles Each Request?

Use the following routing list for a purpose-neutral records or custody question.

  • For a current Wayne County custody question, call the jail at 912-427-5975 or try the exact WCSO inmate inquiry.
  • For a Wayne booking sheet or associated photograph, call WCSO at 912-427-5970 and confirm the current open-records designee. The historical request page is WCSO's archived request route.
  • For a warrant question, use the sheriff contact and the Georgia warrant guidance. A person checking their own status should speak with counsel or the court first.
  • For a Jesup incident or accident report, contact Jesup Police at 642 E. Plum Street, Jesup, GA 31546, 912-427-1300. The city FAQ lists a Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. lobby and report-pickup window.
  • For a Screven police event, the current circuit resource listing gives Screven Police at 200 Walker Street, Screven, GA 31560, 912-579-2211. Confirm the custodian, fee, and delivery method because no separate records workflow was published.
  • For a sentenced state offender's record or available photo, use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search or its open-records route.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP locator or the ICE detainee locator when that custody stage is documented.

Odum is described by the current service-delivery map as sheriff-policed, so no separate municipal police contact is listed here. Start with WCSO and identify any other arresting agency from the event record.

Records Request Basics

A request should describe an existing record and include enough detail for the custodian to find it. Give the full name, date, location, booking or case number, arresting agency, and the specific item sought. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate. Do not ask an office to build a new combined arrest database.

Georgia's Open Records Act generally calls for a response, production, or written timetable within three business days. The first 15 minutes of qualifying staff time are free, and ordinary copies are generally capped at $0.25 per page unless another law applies. Wayne did not publish a current fixed WCSO booking-photo charge. Verify the fee with the office before work begins.

For court copies, the Wayne Clerk's published policy quotes $0.50 per page and $2.50 for certification. GDC posts a separate rate and response process. Those schedules should not be swapped.

When an Office Cannot Confirm a Record

A failed WCSO page does not prove that a person was never booked. A released person may no longer be in the current inquiry. A sealed, restricted, juvenile, or protected record may not be public. A police incident report can also be held by a different agency from the county booking sheet.

Ask which record type the office searched, which date range it used, and whether a different custodian holds the item. Then use the court, state, federal, or city route that matches the custody stage. Current information must come from the originating agency.
